Conversations at an NYC Broadway audition... It's like everyone is trying to top each other with what they've done and who they know, while trying to be louder than the next. It's a battle of who has better volume and bragging rights... The prize? Validation and feeling better than the person next to you for a brief moment.
One time, there was this guy sitting behind me telling (AND SINGING) to his friend how he pops certain notes when auditioning, just to be different. Oh brother! I wanted to turn around and say: "We get it, you're special...... Just like EVERYONE else."
(Plus, all of this makes it very hard to concentrate on the book I'm pretending to read.)
